GFB newsGFB Begin Cobia Production
GFB Fisheries has begun commercial production of Black Kingfish or more commonly known as Cobia. Production runs are scheduled at 4 weekly intervals with a batch run between 600,000 and 1,000,000 hatched fingerlings. GFB Fisheries are the only aquaculture facility in Australia commercially producing Cobia.

These fish are destined for growout in our Marshall Islands fishery which uses sea cage technology. This is the second species GFB Fisheries is producing at the Marshall Islands, the other being Barramundi Cod / Humpback Grouper. Cobia will also be grown at our existing Bowen growout facility which uses saltwater raceway technology.

Fish are transported between our Bowen hatchery and the Marshall Islands using airfreight and live fish wet-well ships.
Cobia larvae, hatchlings and fingerlings are available for purchase. Contact us to place an order.
